I was recently commissioned to make a dresser for a graduation gift for a High School student. We selected Knotty Alder for the wood with a dark brown stain (“Kona”). The overall dimensions are 62″ wide, 18″ deep and 32″ high. The drawers are all on full-extension, ball-bearing slides and are made of 1/2″ Baltic Birch plywood. I selected an inset style for the drawers, and the faces are flush with the dresser frame with the drawer frame protruding by 1/4″ to add visual relief. The dresser is finished with a few coats of Watco Danish Oil.
