About Hallcraft Custom Designs

From an early age, I have always been interested in construction and learning about how things work.

I got some of these traits through watching my father invent and make things while we were growing up. I worked in the construction business while in college and learned more about home construction and with dad being an electrical engineer, I have always been comfortable around electricity. My father-in-law had a garage workshop, and I learned a great deal of the finer details from him over the years before his passing.

After doing a lot of little projects here and there for others, in 2017 I decided to start my part-time business and get more serious about my craft. I already had a table saw and a few other items in my garage workshop, and started re-investing and upgrading to improve accuracy, safety and consistency. My wonderful wife has been kind enough to support this effort and has been willing to park the cars outside.

Being a small space, a 2-car garage, everything is on wheels and is mobile to enable re-positioning to work on projects of various sizes. Also, I have had to be very purposeful about the jobs that I take on as I have no space for large scale assembly – most large jobs are developed in phases to allow me to both do my day-job and have space to work safely. This business was never intended to be replacement income for my regular job, but it does allow me the ability to “re-charge” my batteries, exercise my creative side and problem-solve. It is truly a stress-relief outlet, even when just sitting in the shop and thinking about how I am going to build my next project.
