As an encore to the Custom Office Bookshelves, I was also asked to build a Murphy Bed in their guest room. Having a bed that folded up and out of the way worked well for their family, as it allowed for a great play space in this area when not in use. We selected Walnut for its dark, even grain and beautiful appearance. I selected the Vertical-Adjustable Deluxe Queen bed kit from Create-A-Bed. I have done a couple of these beds now, and their hardware and processes are excellent and durable. The instructions are well done and easy to follow. The customers also asked for a couple of side tables be attached to the bed as well as some LED lighting for reading before bedtime. For the finish, we selected several coats of Danish Oil, followed by a nice coating of Johnson’s Paste Wax.
